Culture ministry to make white-rede-white flag a historical asset?
The Belarusian Ministry of Culture is studying a proposal from the members of the public, seeking to declare the white-red-white flag as a non-material historical and cultural asset, said Anton Astapovich who chairs the Belarusian Society for Protection of History and Culture Monuments, an non-governmental organization.
He told Belapan that the flag was protected by the state during the studying of the issue.
Astapovich requested the cuture ministry to put the white-red-white flag on the National List of Non-Material Heritage Assets on February 26 in connection with the 90th anniversary of the Belarusian People's Republic.
In respond to the letter, deputy culture minister Uladzimir Hrydzyuzhka said that the proposal was forwarded to the Institute of History and the Institute of Ethnography "for expertise".
