Court withdraws case against opposition activist in Babruisk

Yauhen Vaskovich, an activist with the Belarusian Christian Democracy, on Thursday appeared in court. Judge Natallya Charapukha ruled to withdraw the administrative offence charges against the activist as she failed to detect any wrongdoing by Vaskovich.  The only witness, unemployed Henadz Kushner, produced by the police, had a confusing testomony. Other witnesses failed to turn up for the hearing.

Yauhen Vaskovich was detained and beaten by the police in April for waving a white-red-white (national) flag and shouting "Forward Belarus!" during the U-19 World Ice Hockey Championship match between Belarus and USA.
