Council of Europe's Secretary General disappointed with Belarus election outcome

Council of Europe's Secretary General Terry Davis has expressed disappointment with the results of the parliamentary elections in Belarus, according to the statement released by the Council of Europe's press office on September 30. There was hope that the elections would become a turning moment in Belarus's self-isolation from Europe but it did not happen. Observers from the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly were not allowed to observe the elections, Terry Davis noted. But OSCE observers were there and confirmed that the polls fell short of the European standards.
