Coach satisfied with Belarus basketball women finishing 6th in Beijing
Belarus women basketball team has failed to get through to the semi-finals during the Olympic Games in Beijing. It lost to hosts China 62:77 in a quarter-final, thus finishing 6th. Head coach Anatol Buyalski noted in a conversation with the European Radio for Belarus that in spite of the defeat, the participation of the Belarusian basketball players has already been a success.
“The 6th place at the Olympic Games is a result envied by many", he said.
In the view of the coach, our athletes failed to defeat the Chinese because they "got overheated".
“They had a great desire... Their minds turned off. They would grab this ball as if there is no tomorrow. The game did not work out. It is hard to put blame on anyone. I can only say THANK YOU to the girls for their battle to the end, even when it seemed that the match was totally lost.
