CIS official summit to take place in Dushanbe in October

The presidents of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States are expected to gather for the next official summit on October 5-6, 2007, said Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev.  The Russian northern city of St Petersburg is today hosting an unofficial summit meeting of the CIS heads of the state. Belarus's Alexander Lukashenka is also taking part.

According to Nazarbayev, a working group has already drafted "a new concept of the development of the CIS and tabled it for consideration by the presidents", reports the Russian news agency ITAR TASS.
