Central Election Commission confirms results of parliamentary elections

The Central Election Commission of Belarus said on Friday October 3 that the results of the elections to the House of Representatives were finalized and confirmed. All 110 members of parliament were elected on the voting day, Sundat 28, requiring no run-off elections. The election authority also registered the deputies of the 4th House of Representatives and set the date for the first session of the new parliament -- October 27.

24 complaints were filed with the election commissions, seeking to declare the polls invalid. The results of the elections are being appealed in 20 constituencies. However, those complaints could not prevent the Central Election Commission from summing up the results of the polls, chairwoman Lidziya Yarmoshyna said. If the complaints are satisfied, the Central Election Commission will cancel its deicision and will declare the results of the polls in some constituencies as invalid.
