CEC not to ask Minsk authorities to allow actions in October Square

Representatives of presidential candidates have drawn the attention of members of the Central Election Commission to the lack of election agitation spots. “There are not enough of them in some places and there is no access to them”, - informed Tatstsyana Protska, Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu’s representative.
CEC members agreed that there were not enough election agitation spots in certain cities.

"We have tried to influence local executive committees that denote the spots where candidates can meet electors and asked them to increase their number”, - noted the CEC secretary Mikalai Lazavik. – But we are unable solve the problems they are responsible for”.

The CEC declined the idea to ask Minsk City Executive Committee to allow mass actions in October Square during the election campaign (Pavel Sevyarynets, Yury Zadyka and Tatstsyana Shaputska present at the meeting mentioned it one by one). It was stated that Minsk City Executive Committee had already denoted places for pre-election agitation in Minsk. According to its decision, October Square and three other Minsk squares were on the list of places where pre-election agitation was forbidden.
