CEC to emphasize law enforcement practice at parliamentary election

На выбарах у парламент ЦВК зробіць упор на правапрымяняльную практыку

The Belarusian Central Election Committee is planning to emphasize law enforcement practice at the parliamentary election appointed for September 11, CEC chairperson Lidziya Yarmoshyna told journalists in Minsk on May 18.

The Belarusian legislation allows conducting democratic elections and the law enforcement practice is the main thing, BelaPAN reports.

Sticking to the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations #22 and #30 pronounced after the presidential election requires changes to the Constitution, Yarmoshyna said. That is why the law enforcement practice will be emphasized.

There are recommendations allowing to improve the transparency of the vote count and observers’ work in the CEC manual for election committee members.

The Central Election Commission will check whether election committees stick to these manuals. People responsible for violations will be punished and ‘criminal cases’ may be started.
