Businessman Syargei Shtoda who was preparing a rally in Minsk sent to jail

Businessman Syargei Shtoda, who was preparing a rally near the Government House was detained in Minsk, on February 3. On the morning of February 4, truckers who had been fined on toll roads in Belarus, would gather in the center of the capital. They believe that the government introduced the BelToll system without proper preparation and made private carriers lose tens of thousands of euros.

On Tuesday, Shtoda went for talks with Deputy Prime Minister Vasil Matyusheusky to try to solve the problem. He was no longer available after that meeting. Later it became known about the detention of Syargei Shtoda. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail for "foul language". He said this to his wife on the phone, the press service of the United Civil Party reports.

Shtoda is the owner of a small company that has two cars and must pay a fine of 10,000 euros. In an interview to Euroradio, he said that freight carriers wanted to record a video message for the head of Belarus near the Government House.

The system of toll roads BelToll appeared in Belarus in August 2013. At first, many did not know how to use it. During the first month, there was a huge number of violations. For details, see here.
