Brest Regional Court on 12 March did not satisfy an appeal from environmental activists who demanded a halt to the construction of a battery plant near Brest, Belsat TV channel reports.

Ecodom NGO teamed up with several physical persons and filed an appeal with Brest's Maskouski District Court at the end of January. They were asking to suspend the work of the IPower construction company on 12-21 March

The plant representatives asked the court to ensure that the applicants guarantee a compensation for the losses that the plant would suffer during the suspension period - BNY 861 754 (over $400 000). The sum could be placed to the court’s deposit account.

Eventually, the regional court ruled not to satisfy the appeal from the activists objecting the construction.

The hearing of the case is scheduled for 21 March.
