Brest activist of democratic forces wants to prove his rights were violated by police

The deputy head of Brest affiliate of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Hramada) Valyantsin Lazarenkau has prepared a complaint about a violation of his civil rights by policemen, informs BelaPAN. He has sent the corresponding complaint to the head of Brest transport department of Internal Affairs. The reason for the complaint was his detention at the railway station in Brest on July 19. Lazarenkau was on his way home from Minsk together with a local activist of the “Prospect” association Victar Chaikouski. A policeman stopped them on the platform. He checked their documents and personal belongings. It was done in connection with the fact that Lazarenkau was suspected of transporting anti-governmental literature.

Now Victar Lazarenkau will try to prove that such a spontaneous detention and search were a violation of his civil and political rights.
