Belarusians may have their arms legalized by July 1
Citizens are encouraged to have their civilian arms and ammunitions legalized by July 1, 2007. According to the Interior Minister of Belarus, the call targets hunting and sport rifles, gas pistols and revolvers and signal guns with the caliber more than 6 mm on condition that they are allowed for use on the territory of this country.
Those who volunteerly submit and register their weapons with the police authorities will not be subjected to prosecution.
According to the Interior Ministry, over 100 applications for arms registration have been filed. Almost 300 items have already been submitted.
In most cases, people submit gas pistols and hunting rifles, inherited from their relatives.
Over 120 arms items were recovered with the use of force this year, according to Belta.
