Belarusians’ demand for foreign currency doubled in May

Belarusians are getting ready for summer vacations, experts say. That is why they are buying dollars and euro. One more reason for the increased demand is the fact that the National Bank has reduced the prime rate. It is 21.5% now. It affects the interest rate for rouble deposits.

The increased demand for foreign currency was compensated with the help of the Ice Hockey World championship (foreign tourists) in May, BELTA notes.
