Belarusian who recruited Polish agent was member of Union of Poles

The Polish press informs about the case of the Belarusian spy A Polish daily Gazeta Wyborcza continues the investigation of the case of a captain of the Internal Security Agency (ABW) of Poland – Robert R. from Bialystok accused of working for the Belarusian intelligence and giving out a state secret.

The Polish officer has been under examination since 2008, he may be imprisoned for up to 15 years.

The Belarusian who was a medium between him and the Belarusian intelligence is Volha Salamenik. Gazeta Wyborcza reports that she became a member of the Union of Poles in Belarus in 2000. Tadeush Kruchkovski was the head of the organization at that moment. He has been forbidden to enter Poland because he is suspected of cooperation with Belarusian security agencies.

An employee of the ABW has informed the Polish edition that the organization is trying to keep the case a secret because it would like to have good relations with the Belarusian KGB that controls everything connected with borders in Belarus because the European Union demands it: “Brussels’ priority is to reduce the number of illegal migrants and goods coming from the East”.
