Belarusian weight-lifter Anastasia Novikava becomes world champion
The competition is taking place in Paris on November 4-13.
The Belarusian athlete won the first place with the result of 237 kilos on November 7, having surpassed China's Li Xueying. Novikava was the second in the jerk uprise (101 kilos) and the first in the push-off (136 kilos).
This is the first golden medal for a Belarusian athlete at the world championship. Novikava also won the bronze at the Olympics-2008, as well as three golden medals and one bronze medal of the European Championships.
