Belarusian-speaking professor fired from medical university in Hrodno
The official version holds Ales Astrouski did not win the competition to fill in the job vacancy.
Radio Svaboda reports that Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Ales Astrouski is the only lecturer at Hrodna University who has continued to read lectures in Belarusian.
"Aparently, professors and scholars who teach in Belarusian and educate our youth in patriotic spirit in a medical university are not needed. I am the eighth lecturer and the fourth Professor in the local universities who has been fired in this way," said Astrouski.
He had two and a half years before retirement and has three underage children. Ales Astrouski is currently looking for a job.
