Belarusian gymnasts win bronze medal in group competition

Belarusian female rhythmic gymnasts have managed to win a bronze medal on the last day of the Olympics in Beijing.
The team of Alesya Babulina, Anastasiya Ivankova, Zinaida Lunina, Hlafira Martsinavich, Kseniya Sankovich and Alina Tumilovich won a bronze medal in the group competition final having scored 34.900 points. Belarusians were second in the rope competition and fourth in the clubs and hoop competitions.

The Russian team won a gold medal (35.550) and the Chinese team won a silver medal (35.225). Belarus was first in the qualification round (34.950), Russia was second (34.700) and China was third (34.225).
Thus, Belarusian girls have won two medals in rhythmic gymnastics. Ina Zhukava was second in the final of the individual all-round on August 23.

The group award is the 200th award of Belarusians throughout the history of summer and winter Olympics as part of the national team of the USSR, CIS and as an independent team. The bronze medal is the 19th medal won by Belarus national team during the Olympic Games in Beijing.
