Belarusian Beijing and London Olympic prize-winners involved in doping scandal

Another doping scandal has started. The International Olympic Committee has checked the tests taken by the prize-winners of the Olympic Games in 2008 and 2012. Forbidden substances have been found in 63 tests. There are representatives of 19 states on the black list – Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, Croatia, Spain, Germany, Bahrain, Qatar, Cuba, China and Jamaica. There are 15 Olympic champions among the sportsmen.

The sportsmen showed their results in seven kinds of sport: boxing, cycle racing, track and field, weightlifting, wrestling, swimming and modern pentathlon, Pressball reports.

Belarus national team won 18 medals in Beijing in 2008 (4 gold, 5 silver and 9 bronze) and 12 medals in London in 2012 (2 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze). See here for the list of Belarusian sportsmen who may be involved in the doping scandal.
