Belarusian Aliaksei Skoblya awarded Star of Hero of Ukraine, posthumously

Belarusian Aliaksei Skoblya has been awarded the star of a Hero of Ukraine. The decree of Volodymyr Zelensky was published on the website of the Ukrainian President.

Skoblya, and two other fighters - Sergeant Volodymyr Balyuk and Captain Viktor Otserklevych, were given this award "for personal courage and heroism, revealed in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath." All three were awarded posthumously.

Staff Sergeant Aliaksei Skoblya (call sign "Tur") was killed on March 13 while defending Kyiv - he was covering the retreat of his soldiers.  

Skoblya is a native of Minsk. Back in 2014, he was among the Belarusian volunteers in Donbas and took part in the fighting. In recent years he served in an elite Ukrainian special unit. Aliaksei Skobly was 32 years old.
