Belarus, Russia to allocate $112mn to improve union state's borders

Rur2.8 billion ($112 million) are to be allocated for the modernization of the Belarus-Russia union state's external borders in 2007-2011, Col. Yury Fiodaraw, the deputy chief of the international law department at the Belarus's Border Troops Committee. The program aims to provide funding in order to complete the infrastructure and buy equipment for Belarus's borders with Lithuania and Latvia. 

The program will be approved at the next sitting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State to take place in late September in Minsk. The issue will then be tabled to the Supreme State Council of the Union State.

This will be the third program to upgrade external borders, reports BelTA
