Belarus to return to PACE only if opposition takes part in Assembly’s work

One of the terms of returning the status of an invitee in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to Belarus is participation of the Belarusian opposition in the work of the Assembly together with deputies of the Belarusian Parliament. “Interfax” reports that the statement has been made by the Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Žbogar at a press conference in Minsk. The head of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stressed that the Belarusian Parliament had not been recognized legitimate in EU member states according to a common decision of EU member states taken after the elections in 2008.
