Belarus' Ministry of Internal Affairs today confirmed the detention in Minsk of Russian national Anna Bogacheva. The woman described by Russian media as a person linked with the infamous 'troll factory' in Russia was detained in a hotel in the Belarusian capital as "a person wanted by Interpol."

"The file was submitted for decision-making to the prosecutor's office in line with the established procedure. As of now, she has been released," Belarus Police spokeswoman Volha Chamadanava wrote on her Telegram channel.

The media reported about the detention of Anna Bogacheva today in the morning. She is described as a spin doctor. Her detention may be linked with the US sanction against Bogacheva since 2018. The United States suspects Bogacheva interfered with the presidential elections in 2016.
