Belarus to pay $119 for Russian gas

Belarus will pay $119 for the Russian gas supplied in the first quarter of 2008, a high-ranking source in Gazprom told the Russian news agency Ria-Novosti. According to a Gazprom official, the Russian company will buy Turkmenistan's gas for $130 per 100 cubic meters instead of $100 as agreed before. "Therefore, Belarus will enjoy preferential prices in fact", the source said.

Talking to reporters on December 14 in Minsk, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the cost of gas for Belarus would change only in accordance with the contract between Gazprom and Beltransgaz.
