Belarus out of Davis Cup

Belarus's Max Mirnyi was close to tie the Belarus-Sweden standoff in the Davis Cup, in the 2:1 quarterfinal bid against Sweden's Robin Soderling. Mirnyi was leading 7:6, 5:7, 7:6 after three sets, but had to surrender after a dramatic 6:7 set. The Swede took control in the final set, claiming his 6:3 victory.

Sweden beat Belarus 3:1, following Mirnyi's defeat. The last remaining game is to decide nothing, with Sweden to continue playing for the Davis Cup.
