Belarus mulls over e-cigarettes restrictions

Электронныя цыгарэты ў Беларусі могуць прыраўняць да звычайных

The Belarusian Ministry of Health has suggested equating electronic cigarettes with tobacco, deputy chief physician of the Republican Hygiene, Epidemiology and Health Centre Lyudmila Naroichyk said.

It has been recommended by the World Health Organization because numerous scientific researches have proved that e-cigarettes are harmful, BELTA quotes her.

If e-cigarettes are equated with tobacco, all the restriction of ordinary cigarettes (age restrictions, places of sale and smoking restrictions) will be applied to them.

The Ministry of Health has suggested increasing the number of no-smoking zones. Smoking is going to be forbidden in restaurants, cafes and entertainment places, hotels, on beaches and at bus stops. The initiatives are still being discussed.
