Belarus MPs approve 2008 budget

The House of Representatives on Monday passed a draft legislation on the national budget in 2008 with the GDP deficit of 1.9 percent.
99 lawmakers voted for the document, while 2 voted against. Finance Minister Mikalai Korbut told MPs that the revenues in the 2008 consolidated budget (including the social security fund) were expected to reach Br50.16 trillion or 44 percent of GDP. 



Expenditures from the consolidated budget in 2008 are planned to amount to Br52.35 trillion or 46.4 percent of GDP.

The upper chamber of the Belarus's National Assembly, the Council of the Republic is expected to approve the budget on December 20. The budget is then to be signed by the president of the country, reports Interfax.
