Belarus marks World AIDS Day

December 1 is the World AIDS Day. This problem remains acute for the Belarusian society. As of November 1, 2007, 8557 of HIV cases were officially registered in Belarus, reports Belapan.
This year alone, 810 fresh cases were detected in this country. The Homel region takes the lead with the biggest number of HIV+ patients (4500). Minsk and the Minsk region are the second with a total of 2242 infected people.

Most of HIV+ patients are young people aged from 15 to 29. A total of 484 people have died of AIDS in Belarus since 1987.
