Belarus to hold local elections in March 2014

The CEC Secretary Mikalaj Lazavik has said this to BelaPAN. "We are led by the legislation, according to which the local elections should be held in 20s of March, next year," he said.

According to Lazavik, there is no "objective reasons" to hold the elections earlier.

The Electoral Code prescribes that the elections to the local councils of the deputies of new convocation are appointed by the state leader no later than 4 months and held no later than 30 days before the expiry date of the authorizations of the local councils deputies of current convocation.
