According to preliminary data published by the National Bank, on February 1, gold and foreign exchange reserves of Belarus have exceeded the equivalent of $ 8 billion and amounted to $ 8 billion 142.8 million.

In January, international reserves of the country increased by 2.7% (plus $ 213.3 million). In December 2022, they also increased - by 1.6% (plus $ 131.8 million compared to November 2022).

The reason for this growth is unclear. The National Bank noted that since August 2022, it had been publishing information on gold reserves "without specifying their structure and the factors that influenced their change".
