Belarus to get $700 million more from IMF next week

Belarus will receive the last tranche of the IMF’s stand-by credit. About $700 million will be sent to our country next week. BelTA informs that the IMF Board of Directors finished the fourth and the last review of the stand-by programme in Belarus on March 26. The positive decision was taken afterwards.

In the opinion of IMF representatives, the Belarusian authorities have started using the currency regime in a more flexible way and no “dramatic” measures like devaluation are going to be taken in this field soon.

Another mission of the fund’s experts is expected to arrive in May. They will discuss the possibility of continuation of the IMF’s financing of social and economic reforms in the country.
