Bank BelWEB affected by U.S. sanctions

The Belarusian bank BelWEB has been affected by the American sanctions imposed on Russia. The bank is subordinate to Vnesheconombank and has been affected by the sanctions because of it, BelaPAN refers to the website of the U.S. United States Department of the Treasury.

The decision to expand the sanctions affecting a number of physical entities, Russian companies and their affiliates was published on July 30.

The sanctions affect physical and legal entities that were used to bypass the existing restrictions.

Rosneft and Vnesheconombank including the main company of the Russian investment fund, bank Globex, WEB-leasing, WEB-capital, Svyaz-Bank, RN-Yuganskneftegaz, Izhevsk Mechanical Plant, concern Izhmash, holding MAKO and commercial ports in Crimea are affected by the sanctions now.

The restrictions affect a number of Russian and Ukrainian citizens including Russian billionaire Roman Rotenberg and adherents of runaway President Victor Yanukovich (former vice PM and secretary of the National Security and Defence Council Andrei Klyuyev, businessman Sergei Kurchenko, former Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Eduard Stavitski and the ex-Ukrainian President’s eldest son Alexander Yanukovich).
