Bakiev: If other people come to power, I'll be back in Kyrgyzstan

Бакіеў: Вярнуся ў Кыргызстан, калі да ўлады прыйдуць іншыя людзі

Ex-President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev is in no hurry to return home. This the politician on the run who since 2010 has been living in Belarus under the protection of Aliaksandr Lukashenka said during the presentation of his book "Pain, Love and Hope: My Kyrgyzstan". The presentation took place on October 22 in Minsk.

Bakiyev said he lives in Drazdy and is provided with funds, because "he worked all his life." At the same time, he noted that he rarely talks with the head of Belarus, because the latter is busy with politics. His future and the future of his younger children Bakiyev connects with Belarus, and even said that his children learned the Belarusian language.

The politician said he will return to Kyrgyzstan, if other people come to power there, but he "has become attached" to Belarus and calls it his second home, BelaPAN reports.

Kurmanbek Bakiyev, the deposed president of Kyrgyzstan, came to Belarus with a common-law wife and their two children at the personal invitation of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. In July 2014, Bakiyev was convicted in his homeland to life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The same sentence was passed on his brother, Zhanybek Bakiyev, who used to head the State Security Service. They were found guilty of complicity in the murder, attempted murder and abuse of power.

Bishkek has repeatedly demanded that Minsk extradite Bakiyev, because he is wanted internationally, but there was no reaction from the Belarusian side.
