Lukashenka threatens officials with prison for lies

Alyaksandr Lukashenka warned officials that they would face criminal responsibility for lying to him about the progress in selling the stcok from state-owned warehouses, BelTA reports.

“I want you and the other Ministers and heads of enterprises to know. All the lies about selling goods to Lithuania, Russia or anywhere else, not receiving money in time or sending cars and tractors to dealers’ warehouses will result in prison for someone. Have you forgotten how Barouski had to settle it at MAZ? Dozens of millions was lost this way,” Lukashenka told PM Mihail Myasnikovich.

The Belarusian leader commented on Belarusian officials’ fraud: “I will send you the corresponding documents today. You will  read them and see what MPs and CEOs do. If you decide to sell goods – sell them. You prepared the schedule yourselves. We will record Syamashka and the other Ministers’ words and let you listen to them later.”

Lukashenka demanded that money for exported goods should reach Belarus: “Bringing money to the country is the most important thing. You should not export goods and sell them just where you are. You can export goods, but bring the money to the country.”
