20:19 Belarusians to have a more expensive smell

Perfume prices in Belarus will increase halfway beginnng from April 2007.  From April 1, entrepreneurs will be able to sell perfumes only on condition that they are granted a license for foreign trade activities.

It is hard for an ordinary businessman to obtain such a license. Besides, different license is issued to a different brand item. The result of the measure is that only 43 large companies have received import license for parfume products. Smaller vendors will have to buy the products from the large importers, thus contributing to at least a 50 percent increase in the price tag for elite parfumes, according to experts. Cheap perfumes are likely to disappear from the market at all, say small-size entrepreneurs.
