Winner of “Eurovision” Maria Sherifovich may be devoid of title of ambassador
A Serbian singer Maria Sherifovich, winner of “Euroviison-2007”, may be devoid of the title of a European ambassador on intercultural dialogue.
The European Commission is worried about the fact that she supported a candidate of the Serbian radical party Tamislav Nikolich during the presidential election campaign.
The song “Molitva” that helped Sherifovich to win at the international song contest was used at pre-election meetings of the nationalist. Moreover, the singer celebrated his victory in the first tour of elections in public. He was ahead of a “pro-European” candidate Boris Tadzich.
The European Commission is studying “the case” of Sherifovich at the moment: her appeals, performances, etc. The decision whether Maria Sherifovich can remain a European ambassador will be taken according to results of the investigation.
