Will negotiations about supplies of Russian oil to Belarus continue at a distance?

Another round of the negotiations about supplies of Russian oil to Belarus that took place in Moscow on January 7 has not brought any results. The Belarusian delegation has returned to Minsk for consultations. The negotiations will continue at a distance on January 8, informs RIA “Novosti” referring to the assistant of the Minister of Energy of Russia Irina Yesipova. According to her, both sides are getting closer in a number of issues.

BelaPAN reminds that Moscow claimed that it could supply oil for domestic needs to Belarus – 5 or 6 million tons. At the same time, it was noted that reduced coefficients had expired on January 1, 2010. Minsk refers to the existence of the Custom Union and wants all oil refined at Belarusian oil-processing plants to be duty-free. As no agreement was signed at the end of 2009, Russia claimed that duty had to be imposed on all oil exported to Belarus.
