Access to Viasna website remains restricted

Minsk's Centralny Court proclaimed Valyantsin Stefanovich an independent plaintiff on the grounds that he was not the owner of the Viasna website. Therefore, access to the website remains restricted.

Human rights defender Valyantsin Stefanovich has commented on the situation to Euroradio.

Stefanovich: “They will not consider my complaint because I am an independent plaintiff; I am not the owner of the website. Thus, the court has simply avoided me and refused me the right for justice. I am going to lodge a personal complaint to Minsk City Court.”

Stefanovich complained about the actions of the Prosecutor General's Office which had restricted access to the human rights website Viasna in May 2011.
