Signature collection for candidates forbidden near shops and polyclinics in Pruzhany

The secretary of the Central Election Commission Mikalai Lazavik has commented on the decision of Pruzhany authorities for ERB Pruzhany district executive committee has denoted the places where it is forbidden to collect signatures for the local elections. Thus, it is forbidden to ask people for signatures near local self-administration buildings, healthcare, cultural, educational and trade institutions. Signature collators should stay 20 meters away from such buildings. The last paragraph of the order is very interesting. According to it, it is forbidden to collect signatures in any other places where “it could create obstacles for transport, pedestrians and the normal functioning of organizations and establishments”.
The secretary of the Central Election Commission Mikalai Lazavik has noted in an interview with ERB that such restrictions are wrong. Every place can be described this way.
Lazavik: "Any place can be described like this. Say, I am pedestrian and I think they are in my way. I think I will go to Brest tomorrow and I will mention this problem”.
The CEC supports more concrete descriptions of places where it is forbidden to collect signatures, however, it cannot influence decisions of executive committees.
