Russian Duma to consider Crimea annexation bill on March 21

The document will be sent to MPs and all remarks will be accepted by March 17. The bill will be on the agenda on March 21, ria.ru reports referring to the State Duma.

The bill includes new rules of annexation to territories by the Russian Federation. Socialist revolutionaries suggest annexing the countries “having no effective sovereign state power that could protect and defend the citizens’ rights and liberties”. The annexation of new territories may be allowed after corresponding referendums in the regions.

The bill was suggested in connection with the events in Ukraine, socialist revolutionaries said. Power was illegally seized in Ukraine, they claimed.
