Russia may restrict imports of fish and dairy products from Belarus

The reason is a sharp increase in the supply of fish from Norway and dairy products from Lithuania and Poland to Belarus. Rosselkhoznadzor Assistant manager Alex Alexeyenko said in his comment to ITAR-TASS.

"We have started monitoring of a number of products from Belarusian enterprises. If we have a reason to doubt their safety, of course, we will take certain measures," said the official. He explained that the agency repeatedly documented microbiological contamination in dairy products and products of fishery industry, which came from Belarus. Because the amount of these products on the domestic market has increased in August and September 2014, the  risk of spreading substandard products increased proportionally.

Earlier today, head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert said that the service is going to strengthen the monitoring of the Belarusian products due to the unusual growth of imports of dairy products from Lithuania and Poland and fish from Norway to Belarus in September 2014 compared with July and August 2014.

Head of Rasselgasnaglyad said that the main buyer of dairy products from Poland in September was Savushkin praduct. Among Belarusian companies that dramatically increased the supply of fish Dankvert singled out Santa Bremor.
