New EU sanctions to be imposed on Belarus

They are expected to expand the sanctions imposed on Iran, Syria and Belarus, reports RIA “Novosti” referring to a source in the Council of the EU.

The EU Ministers may add more Belarusian officials on “the black list” – they will be forbidden to enter the EU and their financial assets will be frozen in Europe. It is going to be a response to the persecution of representatives of the opposition and the civil community.

The European officials are also planning to discuss the situation in Kosovo, Afghanistan and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
