Finn Kari Heikkilä becomes chief coach of Belarusian national hockey team

Kari Heikkilä was born in on January 10, 1960. His career as a coach started in 1994 in the Swedish club "Sundsval", then he worked with Swedish "Budzen", Finnish teams HPK, "Vaassa Sport" and "Kärpät". He worked in the Continental Hockey League for the recent years, BELTA informs.

Among Heikkilä's achievements as a coach there are silver medals in 2003, and golden medals in 2004 of the Finnish championship, bronze medals (2005) and silver medals (2008) of the Russian championship, and also silver medals of the Continental Hockey League in 2009 with "Metallurg" (Mahnitahorsk).

Belarusian national team was left without the chief coach since May, when Edward Zankavets' HQ discharged. The national team got place 14 at the world championship- 2011 in Slovakia under his leadership.
