Brest office-cleaner violated Election Code

Alyaksei Koutun, observer from the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, complained about the presence of an office-cleaner in the empty voting room.  It was a violation of the Election Code. The head of the election commission was informed about the inadmissibility of such incidents. Head of Brest-Border constituency #4 Ms. Zaitsava signed the response.

However, Mr. Koutun is not really happy about it.

Alyaksei Koutun: "Everyone can write what they like. The district election commission says: "Theer was a violation." The Central Election Commission says that there wasn't. The authorities have one goal - providing the needed turnout to get a certain result. It does not matter by what means it will be done.

The observer notes that nobody knows how many people bedsides the office-cleaner had a key to the voting room.

Alyaksei Koutun photographed an office-cleaner near the ballot box in an empty voting room on September 20. There was nobody nearby. The CEC replied to his complaint and informed that "there was a policeman and the head of the election committee near the election centre which meant that the incident was not a violation."
