Belarusian authorities insist on legality of Dec.19 dispersal

He informed experts of the UN Committee against Torture yesterday that the authorities had been “kind” to demonstrators.

Hvastou answered experts’ questions at the 47th meeting of the Committee in Geneva. He noted that the demonstrators’ actions and the assault of the House of the Government had been considered to be an attempt of a coup d'etat.

The Belarusian representative also claimed that all the suspects and accused of Dec.19 riots “had been informed about their rights and had received lawyers in time”, informs Radio Liberty.
