BBC journalists beaten in Minsk
“They started hitting me on the back, kidneys and legs. Then they got me down and started dragging me into the car”, - said a foreign reporter.
People in plain clothes beat the reporter and cameraman of the Russian service of the BBC, Oleg Boldyrev and Maxim Lamkin, when they were covering “the silent action” in Minsk, informs bbc.co.uk.
"They tried to prevent us from taking pictures in every possible way, - said Maxim Lamkin on the phone. - They started hitting me on the back, kidneys and legs. Then they got me down and started dragging me into the car. I shouted that I was a BBC journalist and that I was accredited and they let me off. However, they hit me on the neck and on the back after that. Then they started apologizing”, - said Maxim Lamkin to bbc.co.uk.
Oleg Boldyrev, a reporter of the Russian BBC service, was hit on the head and on the legs several times.
Policemen in plain clothes treated journalists in a very severe way: they hit their cameras, wrung their hands and got them down. Vasil Syamashka’ forehead was cut badly.
