Azaranka #3 in WTA rankings, Sharapova - #2
The Belarusian tennis-player got down to place 3 in the updated WTA rankings, published on Monday.
Russia's Maria Sharapova
secured the second place. She won the Indian Wells tournament, having defeated
Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark in the final - 6:2, 6:2.
Azaranka withdrew from the tournament at the stage of the quarter-finals due to
the ankle-guard. Last year the Belarusian won the Indian Wells tournament.
25-year-old Maria Sharapova has 10015 points, 23-year-old Victoria Azaranka has 9575. 31-year-old American Serena Williams stays world #1 with 10 365 points.
Azaranka leads the Champions' race (3350 points), Sharapova comes second (2295 points).
