Angela Merkel unexpectedly arrives to Afghanistan
The German Chancellor met with the Bundeswehr soldiers at the military base in Mazar-e Sharif.
However, she couldn't visit the military base of the German armed forces in the province of Kunduz due to strong snowfalls, informs the agency "France-Press".
The newspaper Die Zeit notes that this was Merkel's fourth visit, the last one was in December 2010.
At present moment, up to 4 900 German soldiers are serving in Afghanistan. 52 Bundeswehr soldies and officers were killed within the ten years of the Afghanistan war.
