Police hinders action in memory of I.Kazulina in Baranavichy

The police hindred the action in memory of Iryna Kazulina in Baranavichy. An entrepreneur Mikalai Charnavus informed ERB about it. According to him, about 30 people gathered at the central square of the town. However, eight policemen appeared as soon as the people took out portraits of Kazulina and tried to light candles.

Mikalai Charnavus describes what happened later:

"The first sergeant said: “It is my territory; no one is allowed to put out candles on my territory… Then a lieutenant colonel and the deputy head of the department of internal affairs arrived and ordered everyone to leave threatening with detention”.

The police advised the people to go to the Cross of Sorrow in the square. It was installed in memory of victims of Bolshevist terror. However, when they approached the cross and lit candles the police arrived again and made the present leave.

Mіkalai Charnavus says that there were no detentions thanks to the fact that people were leaving in big groups.
