Officials in Brest suspected of large-scale graft

Three officials from the Navukpram, an organization that builds housing projects in Brest, are suspected of recieving a huge graft. 8 criminal cases were opened against them in the period from June 21 to June 25, 2007. These officials are suspected of extorting huge amounts of money from citizens for the positive solution on the housing projects, Aksana Dzmitruk, a spokswoman for the regional KGB office said in a statement.


During the search at the office of one of the officials, KGB agents seized draft notes, pointing to the fact that they repeatedly received cash money that were not accounted for in the books. The suspects are believed to have earned around $60000 and Br45 million. Two of the suspects have been detained, while the third one has made a written undertaking not to leave the country, according to Belapan.
