Nomination of candidates for Council of Republic kicks off today
The nomination of candidates for the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus has kicked off today.
Candidates can be nominated by the local councils and regional executive committees. Every citizen of this country, aged not less than 30 years old, has the right to become a candidate in order to run for the senate.
The nomination phase will take place through September 15. Registration of candidates is scheduled for September 16-20. Belapan news agency reminds that the Council of the Republic comprises 64 members: 8 people from every region and the capital city Minsk and 8 people appointed directed by the president.
